Bio
I was born in Majorca in 1970 and lived both in Valencia and Majorca as a child and young adult. I studied at the Universitat de les Illes Balears (UIB) and obtained my "licenciatura" (BSc equivalent) in Chemistry in 1993. I did my PhD in the UIB too, under the supervision of Prof Antoni Costa Torres. During this time I learned techniques of organic synthetic chemistry and the basis of molecular recognition.

In March 1999, 3 days after my PhD viva defense, I traveled to Sheffield, UK, to join Prof Chris Hunter's research group, then located in the department of Chemistry of the University of Sheffield. I spent there more than 7 years as post-doctoral research associate, two of them as Marie Curie Fellow, and my last two years under the joint supervision of Chris Hunter and Prof Nick Williams. During this time I was involved in a number of projects from which I learn about cooperativity in weak interactions, control and modeling of self-assembly and the use of lipid vesicles as models of biological membranes.

In October 2006 I took the post of Academic Fellow in Chemical Biology Birkbeck, University of London, thereby starting my independent research career. In 2010 I became Lecturer in Chemistry, in 2017 Senior Lecturer in October 2020 of Reader in Chemical Biology.
In March 2021, 22 years almost to the day I left it, I cam back to the University of the Balearic Islands, taking a post as "Profesor Contratado Doctor", a tenure track post for Associate Professor. In May 2022 I became tenured Associate Professor (Profesor Titular).
